Recall Scale
The Ford company has announced a recall of 115,539 units of its Super Duty truck series, specifically the F-250, F-350, and F-450 models. The specified vehicles were manufactured at the Ford plant in Kentucky between February 2019 and September 2020.
Steering Problem
It is reported that the upper part of the steering column in these trucks may detach from the lower shaft. Although no accidents related to this defect have been reported so far, the issue requires immediate resolution due to its criticality for safety.
Technicians will inspect the upper shaft for signs of expansion, and parts that fail the inspection will be replaced.
Each of the involved vehicles must be directed to a dealer for an inspection of the steering mechanism. Even if the parts pass the inspection, they will require modification to improve fixation.

Previous Recalls
This is already the 115th recall by Ford this year, which is significantly smaller in scale compared to previous initiatives. A few weeks ago, the company recalled over a million vehicles due to issues with rearview cameras.
That recall included various models, such as the 2015-2018 Edge, the 2015-2017 Expedition, the 2017-2019 Econoline, as well as F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 series trucks from the 2015-2019 model years. Unlike some camera issues that can be fixed with a software update, that one required hardware replacement.

The frequency of Ford’s recalls has recently attracted the attention of automotive industry analysts. Persistent problems with critical systems, such as steering and safety, could affect consumer trust in the brand, which is traditionally positioned as a manufacturer of reliable and durable vehicles. Successfully and quickly resolving such incidents becomes key to maintaining the company’s reputation in a highly competitive market.
