Large-Scale Ford Vehicle Recalls
The Ford company has announced four new recall campaigns affecting nearly 625,000 vehicles. The largest of these covers 332,778 Mustang cars manufactured in 2015-2017, with a problem related to corrosion of safety system components. Another campaign concerns approximately 292,000 Super Duty series trucks. These actions add to the existing 120 recalls that Ford has conducted during the current year, significantly exceeding the similar indicators of competitors, including General Motors.
Mustang Safety System Issues
The largest recall concerns Mustang vehicles operated in cold-climate states such as Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan, New York, and others. The problem arose due to the influence of moisture and de-icing salt, which can damage the cables of the seatbelt pretensioners. This increases the risk of passenger injury during an accident. To resolve the issue, dealers will remove parts of the carpets and inspect the safety system components; however, a final solution is not expected until January 2026.
Camera Deficiencies in Super Duty Trucks
The second recall concerns 291,901 pickup trucks of the F-250, F-350, and F-450 series from model years 2020-2022. These vehicles have been found to have a problem with the 360-degree camera system, which may incorrectly display the rear view under certain lighting conditions. This is related to a difference in exposure between the cameras, leading to incorrect image display. Dealers are scheduled to update the image processing module software, but the update will not be available until March at the earliest.
Risk of Windshield Delamination
Another recall campaign affects nine Bronco and Ranger vehicles from the 2025 model year. In these vehicles, there is a risk of windshield delamination during an accident because painted masking tape was used between the glass and the frame during assembly at the factories. The problem was discovered after a customer complaint about protruding tape. To fix it, dealers will remove the glass, remove any tape residue, and reinstall it properly.
Software Errors
The last recall concerns three Mustang vehicles from model years 2021-2023. It is related to a previous erroneous campaign during which dealers installed incorrect software for the body control module. This resulted in the system being unable to diagnose the condition of the brake fluid, and drivers did not receive warnings about its low level. Owners of these vehicles will have to return to dealers for a software re-update.
Frequent Ford recalls indicate systemic problems in manufacturing quality control. Although most of them concern minor faults, their quantity may affect consumer trust in the brand. Furthermore, the long waiting times for fixes, such as January 2026 for the seatbelt issue, may cause concern among owners. It is important for the company to take additional measures to prevent similar situations in the future, including through improved testing processes and collaboration with suppliers.
