Ford banned resale of the GT for two years, but this man made $300,000

Second Ford GT: a high-value collector’s car

The second generation of the Ford GT, introduced a decade ago, remains a dream object for collectors. With a 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 engine producing 666 hp and an original price of around $500 thousand, this car quickly appreciated in value. Even now, in 2025, its price on the secondary market exceeds the original by several times.

One example is a 2022 Ford GT, recently sold for $845 thousand, which is $293 thousand more than its original cost. The limited number of units produced, carbon fiber body, and exclusivity make it significantly more valuable than other supercars, such as the new Corvette ZR1.

This Ford GT was painted in Frozen White with blue stripes (a $12.5 thousand option) and equipped with Satin Silver alloy wheels. The interior features black Alcantara and carbon fiber Sparco seats.

Buying a new Ford GT was not easy—potential buyers had to submit an application, and Ford imposed a two-year resale restriction. Now these rules no longer apply, and the cars are freely traded on the market, but finding one at the original price is practically impossible.

Interestingly, even nearly new examples with minimal mileage, like this one with 26 miles, continue to hold high value. Their rarity and technological solutions make them not just cars, but true investment assets.
