Ford Denies $600K Price for Mustang GTD, But the Cost May Turn Out Higher Than Expected

Ford Mustang GTD: Price May Increase Significantly

Ford has announced that the base version of the Mustang GTD will cost $325,000; however, the exact list of options has not yet been disclosed. A podcast mentioned that a fully equipped version could cost over $600,000. The company refuted this information but confirmed that the final price would depend on additional equipment.

Recently, the Mustang GTD set a record among American cars at the Nürburgring, completing a lap in 6:52.072. However, potential buyers might be surprised not only by the speed but also by the car’s cost. Podcast host Matt Farah reported that one of the customers received information about a price that “starts with a six.”

“What he was initially told was that it would be around $300,000 for a car with options, a track aero kit, and all the add-ons. But the final figure started with a six,” Farah said.

Ford’s Reaction

Company representatives denied the possibility of the cost reaching $600,000 but confirmed that the base price of $325,000 could increase depending on the configuration. Exact figures are not yet being disclosed.

Earlier, Ford closed the waitlist for the first two years of production due to high demand. However, if the actual cost turns out to be significantly higher than expected, some buyers may cancel their orders. For comparison, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS officially starts at $240,000, but its market price often exceeds $400,000.

Although Ford denies the possibility of the price doubling, the question remains open. The company does not provide detailed information about additional options, which creates room for speculation. Given the record performance and limited series, the Mustang GTD is likely to become an object of investment demand, which may affect its market value.
