Ford again acknowledges repair errors and announces two new recalls due to flaws in previous fixes

Ford recalls thousands of vehicles again due to software issues

Ford has announced new recalls affecting thousands of vehicles that previously underwent repairs as part of earlier campaigns. This year, the manufacturer has set a near-record number of recalls—59, while other automakers lag significantly behind in this metric.

Two separate cases involve Ford Transit models, as well as Lincoln Aviator and Corsair. The issues are related to incorrectly installed software updates, requiring owners to visit dealerships once again.

Recall details

The first recall concerns 3,227 Lincoln Aviator and Corsair crossovers from model years 2020–2023. These vehicles may have incorrectly installed updates for the Revel audio system. As a result, the seatbelt warning system may malfunction, failing to comply with federal safety standards.

Research showed that 94.2% of vehicles received the correct update, but some still require fixes.

The second issue involves 3,506 Ford Transit vans from 2022–2023. Their instrument panel software may be misconfigured, causing gauges or warning signals not to display. This also violates safety requirements.

Both situations arose due to errors in the software update process. Owners are advised to contact dealers to reinstall the correct versions.

While these issues are not critical for driver safety, they demonstrate how crucial proper software is in modern vehicles. Ford continues to actively address identified flaws, but the number of recalls this year raises questions about the company’s quality control processes.
