The photo collection was made by the website TopGir, based on photos from subscribers and images from social networks. As is known, defense ministry license plates have black and white symbols. However, some car owners replace ‘ordinary’ plates with the same (digits and letters ‘civilian’), but in black color. Is this legal? Doubtful. Especially in modern realities… Nevertheless, luxurious cars with military license plates that meet standards and indicate affiliation to a certain unit or volunteer battalion can be seen on our roads. Of course, a prestigious Mercedes S-Class with military license plates or a modern Range Rover with black plates can raise questions and even anger among ordinary citizens. But it is worth understanding that this does not always mean that the car is actually allocated to the military… Similar stories have already taken place in 2014-2015 after the annexation of Crimea. Back then, it was also possible to often see cool cars with black plates. Another modern trend is the masking of Ukrainian plates on expensive cars in Europe. Maybach, Bentley, Porsche owners, etc. install Ukrainian plates, but without the flag and UA symbol.
