The joint venture Sony Honda Mobility, which combines automotive manufacturing and cutting-edge technology, continues to surprise. Their upcoming Afeela 1 electric vehicle will receive another innovative feature – digital license plates. This option will be available right from the start of the car’s sales in 2026 thanks to a partnership with Reviver, the inventor of the world’s first digital license plate.

Personalization Capabilities

The digital plates, which will be offered as an accessory, will allow owners to customize their appearance, similar to the media panel on the front of the car. Users will be able to change the font, choose a black or white background, as well as add short slogans or hashtags to emphasize their individuality.

Although the exact price of the accessory is not disclosed, it is expected to be comparable to similar products. On Reviver’s website, a similar RPlate digital license plate costs $899. The manufacturer notes that the plate’s battery is designed to last five years and can be replaced.

Presentation at CES and Future Models

Cars equipped with these plates will be presented at the international CES exhibition next month. There, the company also plans to show a pre-production version of the Afeela 1 and a new concept car that will demonstrate the further development of the brand. Despite the lack of details, experts suggest it will be a crossover, recalling that Sony already presented the Vision-S 02 concept crossover back in 2022.
