Premiere of the Genesis GV70 in the Special Prestige Graphite Edition
At the New York Auto Show, Genesis unveiled the updated GV70 crossover in the special Prestige Graphite edition for the 2027 model year. This version, which the brand positions as dark and sporty, continues the line started by the G70 model in a similar design.
Exterior and Color Palette
The automaker revealed few details, but the novelty is likely based on the GV70 Sport Prestige version. Externally, the car received a number of noticeable updates. These include dark chrome trim elements, gloss black-framed side mirrors, and stylish 21-inch alloy wheels with a dark metal coating, which effectively contrast with the red brake calipers.
Customers will be able to choose one of four body colors, including two completely new shades — Bering Blue and Ceres Blue Matte. Makalu Gray and Uyuni White will also remain in the palette.
Luxury and Technology in the Interior
The crossover’s interior continues the theme of exclusivity. The seats are upholstered in Ultramarine-colored Nappa leather with suede inserts and feature embossed Genesis logos on the headrests. They are complemented by carbon fiber inserts, red contrast stitching and piping, and, apparently, a suede headliner. The unique startup animation of the multimedia system is separately noted.
Technical Specifications and Expected Price
Genesis does not provide details regarding powertrains. However, the standard GV70 lineup offers a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 300 hp, as well as a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 developing 375 hp. Prices and exact sales start dates will be announced later. The G70 Prestige Graphite model, which is the top of its class and starts at $56,900, can serve as an approximate reference point. This suggests that the GV70 version could cost around $60,000 with the smaller engine or up to $72,000 with the more powerful V6.
The presentation of the GV70 Prestige Graphite underscores the general trend of the Genesis brand towards creating more individual and emotional variants of its serial models. The emphasis on exclusive materials, trim details, and a limited color palette transforms the crossover from a utilitarian vehicle into an object of automotive gastronomy, aimed at a buyer who values not only technical characteristics but also the clear identity and status of the car. Such special versions often serve as a test for future design solutions that may later transition into standard trim levels.
