Genesis, the luxury division of Hyundai Motor Group, is actively expanding its product lineup, focusing on high-performance electric vehicles and hybrid technologies. Among the key announcements:
Electrification and Power Plans
During a recent investor day, Hyundai’s head, Jose Munoz, presented a slide confirming Genesis’s development of new electric vehicles, range extenders (EREV), and hybrids (HEV). The brand’s electric vehicles will be focused on high performance: base versions will have over 600 hp, and top versions – over 1000 hp.

The Genesis brand, analogous to Lexus for Toyota, is gaining a sporty character thanks to the new Magma division, which is also preparing to participate in endurance racing with the GMR-001 Le Mans Daytona hypercar.
Magma’s First Steps and Future Models
The first model from Magma will be a special version of the Genesis GV60, which will likely borrow components from the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Kia EV6 GT. It is expected to have over 600 hp, but this is just the beginning – models with over 1000 hp are planned.
Hyundai did not provide details on the form and type of the future powerful Genesis electric vehicle. It could be a Le Mans-inspired road hypercar or an electric version of the X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo concept. However, given the potentially limited demand for such niche products, it is more likely to be a high-performance sedan or SUV capable of competing with the Porsche Taycan, Macan Electric, or the upcoming Cayenne Electric, which also promises over 1000 hp.
Additional Technological Advantages
In addition to powerful electric vehicles, Genesis announced that models with a range extender will be able to offer over 1000 km of combined range, and traditional hybrids – over 500 hp with high fuel efficiency and power on par with electric vehicles.
The expansion of the Genesis lineup against the backdrop of the general trend towards electrification and increased performance demonstrates the brand’s ambitions to establish itself not only as a manufacturer of luxury cars but also as a serious player in the high-performance segment. This could also contribute to increased competition in the premium electric vehicle market, which is dominated by manufacturers such as Porsche and Tesla.
