Genesis has confirmed the production of a limited series of the powerful G80 Magma sedan, but it will only be available for a select market. Here are the key details:
Limited Release for the Middle East
Almost two years ago, Genesis unveiled the G80 sedan with the Magma designation at the New York Auto Show, sparking rumors of possible limited production, specifically for the Middle East. These rumors have now become reality, but with disappointing news for buyers in the USA.
At a recent event in the UAE desert, where Genesis also debuted the striking Skorpio X V8-powered concept, the company finally confirmed plans to produce the G80 Magma. As expected, production will be limited to just 20 units, each intended for the Middle Eastern market, with a particular focus on availability in the UAE.

Power and Technical Updates
Created as the closest competitor to the BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63, the G80 Magma is equipped with the flagship 3.5-liter bi-turbo V6 engine. However, this is not the standard unit. Power was increased to 525 horsepower, which is 150 hp more than the regular G80. Genesis did not provide details on how this increase was achieved, but this upgrade is set to drastically change the car’s dynamics and road behavior.
To match the additional power, the suspension was reworked: lowered clearance and stiffer tuning. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels, and while the hardware sounds familiar, the tuning likely reflects the more aggressive intentions of the Magma model.

Exterior and Interior
Visually, the car received a significantly more dramatic body. It includes a redesigned front bumper with a darkened grille and new black air intakes. Genesis also equipped it with new wheels, a Brembo brake kit, and a more expressive rear end that includes a spoiler, a black diffuser, and new exhaust tips.

The updates also touched the interior. The most significant change was the installation of Recaro seats upholstered in black leather and Alcantara with bright orange backs and contrasting orange and white stitching.

Questions Regarding Price and Strategy
The price has not been announced. Genesis also did not explain why it invested in developing such a model, only to release 20 units, and for one region at that. Whether this is a regional experiment or the beginning of a wider rollout is still unknown, but for now, those outside the Middle East are forced to admire the G80 Magma only from afar.

The creation of such an exclusive and powerful model as the G80 Magma is clearly aimed at strengthening Genesis’s image as a brand capable of producing high-performance cars. Limiting production to twenty units for a specific market may serve several purposes: it is both a marketing move to create hype and a test of market reaction to such special versions in a region where demand for luxury powerful sedans is traditionally high. A similar strategy often precedes more mass launches if the model receives good feedback, or it remains a unique collectible item that enhances the brand’s prestige overall. The lack of price information only adds to the mystery of this project.
