by The Patrol Police of Ukraine published traffic accident statistics for 2018. And it brought some good news, as the number of accidents decreased by 10.2% — to 68,776 in the first half of the year.
There were casualties in 9,965 accidents. In total, 1,237 people died and 12,847 were injured on the roads of Ukraine over the six-month period. Patrol officers urged drivers to follow traffic rules and be attentive on the roads.
In addition, the National Police listed the main causes of traffic accidents in Ukraine. A total of 5 were identified:
— violation of intersection crossing rules;
— failure to maintain a safe distance;
— violation of maneuvering rules;
— exceeding the allowed speed limit;
— driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
