GR Yarolla is a Hatchback from the 90s Haunted by the Ghost of the GR Yaris

A Retro Car with a Modern Heart

German tuner JP Performance GmbH has created a unique project by combining the body of a Toyota Corolla E110 with the technical guts of a modern GR Yaris. This unusual hatchback received 300 horsepower, all-wheel drive, and modern technology, making it a true “sleeper” sports car.

Technical Features

Under the hood of the “Yarolla” (as the project was named) works the three-cylinder turbocharged engine from the GR Yaris, which is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and the GR-Four all-wheel drive system. This powertrain is significantly more powerful than the original 1.6-liter engine of the Corolla E110, which produced only 109 hp.

“This project combines the nostalgic design of the 1990s with modern technology, creating a unique car that Toyota itself could have released”

The tuners also installed a stiffer TNGA suspension, more powerful brakes, and plan to add new alloy wheels, a KW V4 Clubsport sport suspension, and an intercooler. The process of obtaining TÜV certification for legal use on European roads is currently underway.

This approach to tuning is reminiscent of the golden era of rally Corollas from 1998-1999, but using modern technology. Despite being a one-off, the project demonstrates how classic design can be combined with modern technical solutions to create a truly unique car.
