Not Enough Money: These Cars Are a Dream for True Speed Enthusiasts

Restomodified BMW 2002 by Son of Cobra

Paul Lefebvre, the founder of Son of Cobra, built an entire business based on his passion for the BMW 2002. His restomodified versions transform classic cars into unique, lightweight, and powerful machines using carbon fiber. The attention to detail and individual approach make these cars true masterpieces.

These cars can be seen as an answer to a question nobody asked: what would the perfect BMW of the 1970s look like if it were created without budget constraints? Son of Cobra offers exactly that—a modern interpretation of a classic that preserves its spirit.

Limited Series and Individual Approach

“I choose my clients just as they choose me. It’s important for me that there is a connection between us, because each project is a part of my family,” Lefebvre shares.

The company produces only 1-2 cars per year, and so far only five clients have received their exclusive BMWs. Lefebvre personally selects donor cars to guarantee quality and compliance with standards.

Technology and Performance

The carbon body reduces weight by 200 kg, and the reinforced frame improves handling. Clients can choose an upgraded M10 engine with 180 hp or an S14 unit from the BMW E30 that delivers over 200 hp. The interior is also customized—from carbon panels to modern instruments.

For those not ready for a full rebuild, Son of Cobra offers individual components: carbon body parts, adjustable suspension arms, and even aluminum door handles. Despite the high price, there are enthusiasts who will appreciate this approach to classic cars.

Son of Cobra’s projects demonstrate how tradition can be combined with innovation to create unique cars for true enthusiasts. This is not just a restoration—it’s a new life for legendary models, where every detail is meticulously thought out.
