In January, a rare German supercar, the Gumpert Apollo S, arrived in Ukraine. The car appeared in Kyiv and became one of the few examples of this model in Eastern Europe. In total, Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur GmbH produced only about 60 such cars. This is reported by “AutoConsulting”.
The Gumpert Apollo S was created as a road version of a car that is as close as possible to track racing cars. Production of the model started in the mid-2000s, and the brand itself ceased to exist in 2013, after which these supercars began to rapidly increase in collector’s value.
Gumpert Apollo S: Technical Specifications and Performance
The supercar is equipped with a 4.2-liter Audi V8 gasoline engine. Depending on the tuning, the power ranges from 650 to 800 hp. The top speed reaches 360 km/h, and acceleration to 100 km/h takes about 3 seconds.
At the time of the model’s market launch in 2007, these figures were considered among the highest for production road cars. The car’s design was initially projected with a focus on race tracks but with full legalization for public roads.
The History of the Gumpert Apollo and Its Sporting Achievements
The Apollo project was initiated by Roland Gumpert after returning to Germany from China, where he worked within the Volkswagen-Audi structures. Development was carried out in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich and the Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences, with a focus on aerodynamics and computer modeling.
In 2005, the Apollo debuted in the Divinol Cup races at the Hockenheimring. Later, the model participated in the “24 Hours of Nürburgring,” and in 2008, it set a Top Gear test track record with a time of 1 minute 17.1 seconds, surpassing the Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg CCX, and Ascari A10.
Currently, the Gumpert Apollo S that arrived in Ukraine has joined a private collection and has become one of the rarest supercars officially present on Ukrainian roads.
