In March, one of the few 1991 LuAZ-1301 off-roaders was sold in Ukraine. This is an early prototype of a model that never went into mass production. The car changed hands on the domestic market for collectible vehicles. This is reported by “AC Garage News”.

The unit that changed owners had body number 0015. The total production volume of all modifications of the LuAZ-1301 did not exceed 43 units, making the model one of the rarest among Ukrainian off-roaders.

The car’s development started in the mid-1980s as a replacement for the LuAZ-969 “Volyn”. Due to financial difficulties, the project never transitioned to mass production. Individual cars were assembled until 2004, within the framework of winding down the program.

The model received a compact body about 3.6 meters long with plastic panels and simple shapes. Some components and interior elements were borrowed from the ZAZ-1102 “Tavria”.

Early versions were equipped with a 1.1-liter gasoline engine producing 51 hp. The off-roader has all-wheel drive with a reduction gear, independent suspension on all wheels, and front disc brakes.
