A rare Maybach 62 S Landaulet, one of the most exclusive luxury cars of modern times, has been put up for sale in Germany. Only 22 such vehicles were ever produced, and the example offered by the dealer is the last Maybach built before the model’s production ended. Mechatronik reports on this.
Maybach 62 S Landaulet: what makes the body unique
The Maybach 62 S Landaulet debuted in 2008 and became a modern interpretation of the historic Landaulet body style. Its main feature is a soft folding roof only over the rear passenger compartment, while the driver is always under a rigid roof.
This type of body was previously used primarily for state limousines of monarchs, presidents, and other high-ranking officials. The car’s interior features separate seats with electric adjustment, massage, ventilation, and reclining functions. The equipment also includes a champagne refrigerator, silver-plated glasses, and an electrochromic partition between the driver and passengers.

The car is equipped with a 6.0-liter petrol V12 Biturbo engine from AMG. Factory modification increased its power from 612 to 630 hp, with a maximum torque of 1000 Nm. The limousine, over six meters long, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than six seconds.
The vehicle offered for sale has several other special features. It was ordered in September 2012 by Maybach’s largest client, who convinced Daimler management to build a right-hand drive version as the model’s final car. Moreover, it is one of only four cars built after the model update.
Due to the decision to discontinue production, the Maybach assembly line had already been dismantled, so this car was fully assembled by hand at a separate workstation. According to the seller, no other Maybach has undergone such an assembly process.
The first owner took delivery of the car in Switzerland in February 2013. Until 2021, it remained part of a private collection and was practically never driven. The car was later sold to Japan, where it underwent maintenance in 2025. In the summer of 2026, the limousine returned to the dealer Mechatronik and is now offered for sale with a mileage of just 2300 km.
