Hertz Significantly Improves the Car Rental Process at Airports

Hertz Adds Ineos Grenadier to Its U.S. Fleet

The Hertz company is preparing to add a truly unusual model to its U.S. rental fleet. Instead of another crossover or electric sedan, the company is adding the Ineos Grenadier to the fleet. This means that anyone with the necessary amount will be able to come and rent this unique, serious category, body-on-frame SUV. The SUV will be available at selected airports across the country, starting this spring.

Key details of the offer:

Hertz Traditions and Grenadier Features

The company has a history of giving renters the opportunity to try niche cars. It is known for offering sports cars such as the Shelby Mustang, Jaguar F-Type, and Nissan GT-R on rare occasions. Some locations offer the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, but the Ineos is undoubtedly a more extreme option. Created as the spiritual successor to the original Land Rover Defender, it is equipped with BMW engines, solid axles, and a mechanical four-wheel-drive system.

“At Hertz, we are focused on offering the latest and most interesting cars in the industry and providing customers with access to modern, high-quality rental options,” said Adnan Manzur, Senior Vice President of Customer Service Operations in North America at Hertz.

He added that with the addition of the Ineos Grenadier, the company continues to expand choices for customers and reflects travelers’ evolving preferences for unique, premium driving experiences that make the journey as memorable as the destination. This new offering will undoubtedly attract those looking for something rugged for adventures at their travel destination.

Mutual Benefit for the Ineos Brand

The benefit for the Ineos brand itself is also significant. Despite serious off-road qualities, the car has not achieved the truly mass adoption the company hoped for. Last year, Ineos scaled back plans for expanding its model range.

“This partnership is an exciting step forward for our further expansion in North America,” said Gregor Hembrow, Executive Vice President of Ineos Automotive Americas.

He noted that introducing the Grenadier to Hertz customers gives more drivers the opportunity to experience firsthand the capabilities and engineering of their vehicle, and also highlights the strong demand they are observing as the brand’s presence grows in North America.

Potential Challenges and Prospects

All things considered, it will be interesting to observe how customers receive the Grenadier. Hertz has received a lot of criticism in recent years over damage disputes, most notably at airports. The combination of an overly meticulous AI-based damage detection system and a vehicle designed for dirty work sounds like a potential problem. Nevertheless, it’s hard not to want to try the whole experience yourself to see what it’s capable of.

The partnership between Hertz and Ineos could become an important test for a niche manufacturer in the mass market. For many drivers, this will be the first opportunity to “get a feel” for a car often compared to legendary off-roaders of the past, without committing to purchasing it. The success of this initiative could indicate real demand for similar vehicles in a segment increasingly filled with electrified crossovers. For Hertz, this is another attempt to differentiate itself in the competitive rental market by offering not just a means of transport, but emotions and experiences that customers may be seeking in their travels.
