Honda City demonstrates style as a mini-version of Type R without incredible sharpness

Honda introduced a new special edition of the City hatchback in Thailand. This is the Drival, which is based on the e:HEV RS model with additional sporty body kit. This version lacks power or chassis enhancements, and production is limited to 1,000 units. Even if the City has not gained a reputation for hot variants like the Civic Type R, Honda gives it a stylish update with a new limited edition. Enter the Honda City Drival, a new take on the popular hatchback in Asian markets, which is based on the hefty e:HEV RS kit with added sporty charm.

This special edition is available exclusively in pearl white, complemented by distinctive glossy black accents throughout the body. The highlight here is the body kit, which includes a front splitter, side skirts, a rear bumper extension with a diffuser, and a noticeably large rear wing. Regarding wheels, the Drival is equipped with a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels, completing the exterior look. The departure from chrome accents proved successful as the radiator grille, emblems, roof, and mirrors all received a glossy black finish. Inside, the cabin matches the exterior mood, with the interior featuring black upholstery with red accents and stitching.

Since the Drival is based on the highly specialized e:HEV RS trim, it’s no surprise that it is well-equipped in terms of tech. Drivers get an 8-inch infotainment display, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an eight-channel audio system, and automatic climate control. The model also boasts several advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), such as lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control, which are becoming standard for most modern vehicles. Unfortunately, updates have not extended to the performance side. Under the hood, you’ll still find the same e:HEV as before – a 1.5-liter engine with 97 hp (72 kW), paired with a single electric motor producing 108 hp (80 kW).

All this power is sent to the front wheels via an electronic continuously variable transmission. The new Honda Drival edition is available from 829,000 baht ($24,400), making it the most expensive trim in the line-up. By comparison, the City S+ starts at 599,000 baht ($17,600), while the flagship City e:HEV RS costs 799,000 baht ($23,500). The City appeared in 2019, and the hatchback in 2020. Both cars were updated in the mid-life cycle in 2023 and 2024.

The Honda City is available in several markets in Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, offering a budget alternative to models like the Civic.
