The long-awaited and promising sports car did not meet the expectations of either the manufacturer or the consumer. This is evidenced by the extremely low demand, which is why the Japanese deemed further production of the model impractical.

The iconic Honda NSX model (in the USA – Acura NSX) recently experienced a second coming, but the music didn’t play for long. Unfortunately, the second generation NSX could not even come close to its predecessor – sales were so low. While the previous generation was sold in a quantity of 18,000 units, the new model sold 3,150 units over 5 years, according to the official Honda website.

And here’s an important point – those who already own this car (or can buy it), it’s time to keep it for better times. Considering the small number of cars released, Honda/Acura NSX’s second generation will be worth much more in 20 years (or even 10). After all, it’s essentially a collector’s item that will only get more expensive each year. By the way, perhaps the high cost of the successor to the iconic sports car was the key reason for the low demand. The price tag of $169,500 is quite substantial for both Japan and the USA. Let alone us, although there is a recent Honda NSX in Ukraine, and even the predecessor NSX from the first Need For Speed is available.
Another important point is the “shift in values”. If the first NSX was quite affordable, very nimble, and “fun,” and without any frills (purely a driver’s car), its successor turned out not only expensive but also technologically complex and heavy. In short, it didn’t “click”…

However, there is still a chance to buy a truly collectible version of the Honda NSX Type S – the final version will come off the assembly line in a quantity of 350 units (the overwhelming majority – for North America, by the way). And with that, we’re expecting exclusive “wrecks” in Ukraine…
