Honda announced that the Civic Type R will receive new parts from HRC, and this applies to the US

Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) has officially confirmed that a number of exclusive components, first introduced on the Civic Type R HRC concept, will go into series production. These parts are expected to become available to customers by the end of the current year.

What will be included in the HRC package?

Among the key elements that were showcased on the concept, it is worth highlighting:

All these parts were developed using HRC’s experience in the Japanese Super Endurance and Super GT racing series.

Words from the head of HRC

HRC President Koji Watanabe during the Honda All Type R World Meeting at Motegi circuit noted that the model uses technologies honed in endurance racing and Super GT. He hinted that only a few months remain until the release.

Availability in the US

Importantly, the new components will not be exclusive to the Japanese market. Watanabe emphasized that the parts are also being developed for the United States. According to him, the company aims to deliver them to customers as quickly as possible.

Honda had long ago announced plans to sell sports accessories for its models. At the end of 2024, the company launched a specialized division, which initially introduced aerodynamic updates for the Acura Integra Type S. It was emphasized at that time that all parts must undergo a lengthy safety certification process. It appears that this process is nearing completion.

Thus, Civic Type R owners will be able to purchase these components individually, rather than buying a ready-made “performance” version of the car. This opens up wide opportunities for personalization and improving the characteristics of the hot hatch, which is already considered one of the best in its class. The emergence of factory racing parts developed directly by HRC will allow enthusiasts to get even more out of this model without resorting to the services of third-party tuning shops. Given that production of the Civic Type R is gradually being phased out, this move could be a kind of “farewell gift” for brand fans who want to squeeze the maximum out of the legendary front-wheel-drive platform.
