Honda discontinues production of its most popular model in Europe, but not without a grand farewell

Honda releases a limited series of Civic Type R for Europe

Honda is preparing to bid farewell to the legendary Civic Type R in the European market due to the new stringent requirements of the GSR2 regulations. As a tribute to fans, the company will release only 40 units of the special Ultimate Edition before the model disappears from sale entirely in 2026.

Each car in this series will be painted in the signature Championship White with red decorative stripes, a black roof, and carbon elements. The package also includes:

This is not the end of the road for the Civic Type R. The model will continue to be sold in the USA and Japan, and we expect its return to Europe if the Civic is not replaced by a crossover.

GSR2 requires the installation of a driver monitoring system, which has forced Honda, Toyota, and Porsche to withdraw some of their models from the European market. The price of the Ultimate Edition has not yet been announced, but it will definitely be higher than the standard Type R version.

This limited series will be a true find for collectors. Considering the history of previous Honda special editions, these cars could significantly increase in value in the future. Especially since this is Europe’s last chance to get a new Type R before its possible return in compliance with new regulations.
