Honda Has Found the Best European Tracks for Driving. What Are Your Favorite Routes?

Honda’s New Initiative

The Honda Civic Type R is currently unavailable in Europe, but the brand wants its enthusiasts to continue enjoying driving on the best roads. To this end, Honda has introduced a special interactive map that includes 120 of the best driving routes across Europe. The best part is that you don’t necessarily need to own a Honda to access the map.

Availability and Content

The Honda Dream Drives website contains a total of 127 routes in 25 European countries. They cover impressive roads from the north of Scotland to mountain tracks in Slovakia, as well as four unforgettable routes on the island of Mallorca in Spain.

Notable Roads

Some of the routes need no introduction. Among the most famous are the Stelvio Pass in Italy, the Transfăgărășan road in Romania, and the mountains near Pianezze in Italy. A less known but no less impressive route leads from Marbella in Spain to the small town of Ronda.

“Creating a unique interactive map based on specially selected roads is the perfect way to say goodbye to the Civic Type R in Europe,” said Nick Pearson, General Manager of Corporate Communications at Honda Motor Europe.

“As the pinnacle of Honda’s performance and handling, these cars come alive when driven for pleasure, and this map allows enthusiasts to enjoy their potential in any corner of Europe. It is the perfect guide for past, present, and future generations of Honda cars, embodying the Type R spirit and our commitment to the ‘joy of driving’.”

Useful Features

Each route is accompanied by detailed information and a link to Google Maps, allowing drivers to easily plan their journey. The focus is not only on famous locations but also on the overall driving experience, whether it’s mountain serpentines or peaceful coastal roads.

Reasons for Discontinuing the Civic Type R

Honda confirmed the cessation of Civic Type R sales in Europe in July due to non-compliance with new EU requirements that mandate the installation of driver monitoring systems in all new cars. The Type R brand may return to Europe someday, but it is not yet known exactly when or in what form.

This initiative by Honda demonstrates how important providing a quality driving experience remains for the company, even if individual models temporarily disappear from the market. At the same time, increased focus on safety and environmental standards in the EU could significantly impact future offerings from automakers, particularly sports cars, which traditionally have high emission levels. Therefore, projects like the Dream Drives map become a way to maintain a connection with the audience and preserve the brand spirit.
