Who Will Replace Clarkson in ‘The Grand Tour’ After His Departure from the Studio

The popular automotive show ‘The Grand Tour’ has received new hosts who will replace the legendary trio that bid farewell to viewers in September 2024. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May ended their era in the project, leaving behind memories of incredible chemistry, chaos, and powerful engines.

A New Page for the Show

The path for the show is now open anew. It will return to Prime Video in 2026 with a completely new team of hosts, whose names have just been officially confirmed.

Who Will Become the New Face of the Project?

The steering wheel and keys to the famous tent have been handed over to Thomas Holland and James Engelsman, known for their YouTube channel Throttle House, as well as the viral trainspotter Francis Bourgeois.

In a video published on the official ‘The Grand Tour’ Instagram account, Jeremy Clarkson reviews applications from contenders for his spot. After dismissing James May’s resume because it was ‘boring,’ he approved the new lineup. He called Holland a ‘funny person,’ Bourgeois an ‘internet railway guy,’ and remarked about Engelsman that he ‘once reviewed a car using only sarcasm.’ Clarkson summed it up: ‘Let’s take them. They look good.’

Format and Plans for the Season

The upcoming season will retain the show’s original formula and will consist of six new episodes. According to reports, the team will visit the desert in Angola, immerse themselves in the vibrant car culture of Malaysia, and test American muscle cars in California.

Changing of the Guard

Amazon’s choice of new hosts indicates a clear course towards attracting a younger audience. Holland and Engelsman have 3.35 million subscribers on their Throttle House YouTube channel, while Bourgeois attracts 2.6 million followers on Instagram and 3.3 million fans on TikTok.

Francis Bourgeois commented on his appointment, comparing it to an awkward task: ‘The saying “big shoes to fill” is very apt. In this case, it will be like Mo Farah running in size 44 galoshes — it will be a bit clumsy at first, maybe even with blisters, but overall it will be interesting to watch.’

Release Scale and Production

The show’s reboot, which will be marked as the seventh season of the franchise, will be presented globally in over 240 countries and territories on the Prime Video platform. Production will be handled by Studio Lambert, known for projects such as ‘The Traitors’ and ‘Squid Game: The Challenge.’

This change of hosts is one of the most significant events in the history of automotive shows in recent years. The success of the original trio was based on a unique dynamic that formed over decades, so the new team will have to not only demonstrate knowledge about cars but also quickly find common ground and create their own, no less captivating style of communication. Given the digital roots of the new hosts, it can be expected that the show will adopt a more interactive and socially-oriented format, adapted to the modern media habits of the audience. The question remains open: will they be able to fill the ‘tent’ with the same sense of grand adventure and unpredictable humor that made the project unique?
