New look for the Corolla sedan
American company CraftC Performance has developed an exclusive body kit for the Toyota Corolla sedan that gives its exterior the aggressive character inherent to the sporty GR Corolla version. This project allows owners of regular sedans to enjoy the style of the famous hatchback without making changes to the technical part of the car.
Key features of the project
Development details
The company published the first prototype images through social media, showing a white sedan with a carbon hood and front fenders. These elements emphasize the car’s sporty character, although the exact details of the body kit installation remain unknown. CraftC Performance specializes in manufacturing body parts for Japanese cars, offering a variety of lighting, spoilers, and other accessories.
We contacted the workshop to find out if they are planning serious powertrain upgrades for the sedan, but we don’t expect it.
Complexity of creating a full-fledged GR sedan
A full conversion of the sedan into an analog of the GR Corolla requires significant work: replacing the engine with a turbocharged three-cylinder unit, installing a manual transmission and all-wheel drive system. Financially, such a project may prove more expensive than purchasing a used GR hatchback. However, for automotive tuning enthusiasts, practicality is not the only important factor, but also the opportunity to realize their own ideas.
Motivation and prospects
The CraftC Performance project shows how tuning allows bypassing the limitations of mass production, giving cars a unique appearance. Although the Corolla sedan doesn’t have the sporting heritage of the GR version, this approach may interest those who value individuality. It’s important to note that such modifications often become an impetus for the development of new trends in automotive culture, where appearance and technical refinements go hand in hand.
