Hyundai N Will Not Abandon Gasoline Engines Despite the Popularity of Electric Vehicles

Hyundai N Is Not Limited to Electric Vehicles

Hyundai N, the company’s performance division, continues to evolve, and a significant shift in its strategy is expected in Europe. Although the brand is actively working on electric models such as the Ioniq 5 N and the upcoming Ioniq 6 N, it is not abandoning other types of powertrains. Vice President of Hyundai N, Jun Park, emphasized that the division is not focused solely on electric vehicles.

“The problem is that the media and our fans think that Hyundai N is focused only on the EV world, but that is not the case. We are not limiting ourselves to electricity,” Park stated.

Hybrids and Other Options

Hyundai N is considering various powertrain options, including hybrid and EREV (electric vehicles with extended range). This aligns with the parent company’s strategy of developing different types of vehicles to reduce dependence on charging stations. Although not all of them are suitable for high-performance models, the division remains open to experimentation.

The next new product is expected to be the Ioniq 6 N, which will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. A high-performance model based on the N Vision 74 concept, which uses a hydrogen-electric hybrid system, may also appear in the future.

While Kia is moving towards full electrification of its GT models and Genesis Magma is exploring various technologies, Hyundai N is trying to maintain a balance between traditional and innovative solutions. This allows the brand to remain flexible in a world where environmental and performance demands are constantly increasing.
