Later, Elon Musk himself shared the story of this picture. It was taken in 1995 when the future founder of Tesla had just started at Stanford University.
Musk was captured with his first car – a BMW 320i E21 from 1978. He bought the car in 1993 for $1400. The future billionaire was replacing the side window, shattered by thieves who stole the radio. Over time, he also had to remove the broken 4-speed manual gearbox and install a more modern 5-speed manual found at a junkyard. Later, Elon Musk made money, and in his garage appeared a BMW M5 Hamann, Porsche 911, and even a McLaren F1 (which he crashed).
Now, in the Tesla CEO’s collection, there is a Jaguar E-Type and a Lotus Esprit submarine car from the James Bond movie.
