Presentation of the New Infiniti Concept
Infiniti has announced the debut of the QX80 R-spec concept SUV at the SEMA show, which will take place at the end of October. The automaker has released the first teasers of the upcoming novelty, demonstrating a number of interesting features.
Key Features of the Model
Technical Details and Design
The manufacturer has not yet revealed full technical specifications but notes that the model will become a “bold combination of muscle and elegance.” Particular attention is drawn to the statement that “the legend lives under the hood,” hinting at a significant increase in power.
In a comment from brand representatives, it was noted:
This model will become a bold combination of muscle and elegance
The published images show a special R-spec emblem, executed in the style of GT-R T-spec badges. It is also noticeable that the model has a lowered suspension and a rear bumper with cutouts for four exhaust pipes.
Possible Technical Solutions
Although some enthusiasts suggest the possibility of installing the famous twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 from the GT-R, this is still just an assumption. The use of a modernized version of the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 seems more realistic.
Previous Concepts and Model Development
The QX80 R-spec will become a logical continuation of the Track Spec concept presented this summer. That model developed over 650 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque, making it a potential competitor to the Cadillac Escalade-V.
Trim and Equipment
The previous concept received aggressive body kit with a front splitter, extended side skirts, and pronounced wheel arches. Designers also installed a quad exhaust system, a rear diffuser, and 24-inch wheels with a Brembo braking system.
The appearance of the R-spec version indicates Infiniti’s increased attention to the high-performance segment of the luxury SUV market. The use of technologies tested on sports models could significantly increase the brand’s competitiveness in the fight against such vehicles as the Cadillac Escalade-V and other powerful premium SUVs. Final technical specifications and design details will be presented during the official presentation on October 27.
