Infiniti installed a GT-R Nismo engine in the QX80 just for an experiment

Powerful Concept from Infiniti

Infiniti has introduced the unique QX80 R-Spec concept, which is equipped with an engine from the legendary Nissan GT-R Nismo. This luxury SUV develops 1000 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful in its class.

Technical Features

The heart of the concept is the VR38DETT engine – a 3.8-liter bi-turbo V6 used in the GT-R Nismo. However, the engineers didn’t limit themselves to simply installing the engine but conducted serious modifications:

Performance Enhancement

Thanks to these changes, the QX80 R-Spec demonstrates impressive performance. Its 1000 horsepower exceeds the capabilities of competitors such as the Cadillac Escalade-V and could even make the Lamborghini Urus turn red with envy.

Updated Chassis

The modifications affected not only the engine. The vehicle received:

Exterior and Design

The exterior of the QX80 R-Spec was inspired by the GT-R T-Spec Takumi Edition. The vehicle features unique Midnight Purple paint with a color-shifting effect and a wide body kit with extended wheel arches. The latter conceals massive 24-inch bronze-colored wheels with Yokohama Parada Spec-X tires.

Braking System and Details

The concept is equipped with a carbon-ceramic braking system with yellow calipers. There is also a carbon fiber front spoiler, new honeycomb fog lights, and an aggressive diffuser with an extended spoiler.

Company Plans

Infiniti Americas Vice President Tiago Castro noted: “We set ourselves the task of exploring an even more extreme direction for the QX80, as we strive for a future with high-performance variants that offer a wider range of possibilities for our customers.”

This indicates that while the QX80 R-Spec won’t go into series production, the company may introduce similar models, for example, a QX80 Track Spec with over 650 horsepower.

The creation of such concept cars demonstrates the manufacturer’s technical potential and its willingness to experiment with high-performance solutions. Similar projects often become the basis for future production models, allowing the brand to test market demand and technological innovations before launching mass production.
