Jeep Has Not Learned from Its Mistakes, as the Compass Model Price Has Increased by More Than $4,000

Jeep Compass Model Lineup Update

While the rest of the world is receiving the updated Jeep Compass, the American market remains with the previous version of this model. Despite this, Jeep is making changes to the Compass lineup for the 2026 model year, reducing the number of available trims.

Trim Changes and Pricing Policy

The base Sport trim has been completely discontinued. Now, buyers are only offered the Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk versions. This decision raises concerns, as the Sport model was the most affordable with a starting price of $28,895.

The new starting price for the Jeep Compass is now $32,985, including the destination fee. This is $4,090 higher than the previous base model and almost equals the cost of the 2025 Limited trim.

Updated Equipment

Jeep explains the price increase by pointing to additional equipment, the total value of which is estimated at $2,350. Standard features now include:

Exterior Changes and Technical Specifications

The color palette has been updated with new shades: Joose, Fathom Blue, and ’41 Green. Technical specifications remain unchanged: all versions are equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine producing 200 horsepower, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive.

The Compass price increase comes against the backdrop of statements from Jeep management about solving the “pricing problem.” However, in practice, the brand’s strategy is aimed at increasing model profitability by reducing the number of available trims and including additional equipment in the base price. This may affect the competitiveness of the Compass in the compact crossover segment, where buyers often focus on the availability of various equipment options.
