New Off-Roader for Veterans
Fox Factory Vehicles has introduced a special version of the Jeep Wrangler called the Commando, dedicated to Veterans Day. This model is based on the Wrangler Rubicon 392 and is offered as a ready-to-use off-road vehicle.
Key Features
Exterior and Design
Externally, the vehicle received a steel front bumper with a grille guard and additional lighting. These are complemented by steel high-line fenders and tubular doors, painted in ’41 Green to match the body color. Also present are a bikini top, a decorated hood, and an optional Warn winch with a 12,000-pound capacity, which costs an additional $3,395.
Technical Improvements
In addition to external changes, the Wrangler was equipped with a JKS suspension with a 3.5-inch lift and Fox 3.0 shocks with remote reservoirs. To these were added a Fox ATS steering stabilizer and 17-inch wheels with beadlock capability, shod in 37-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires.
Interior and Comfort
The cabin features beige leather seats with embroidered Commando logos on the backrests. The model also has an accessory rail on the dashboard, a digital rearview mirror, and a spare tire relocated to the cargo compartment.
Engine and Transmission
The car is powered by the familiar 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine, producing 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard four-wheel-drive system.
Optional Upgrades
Customers can order an additional Whipple supercharger for $11,495, which increases power to 705 hp and torque to 655 lb-ft. A Magnaflow exhaust system is also offered for $3,395 to improve sound and performance.
Availability and Price
The cost of the Commando is $69,995, but it is unclear whether this is in addition to the price of the base Wrangler Rubicon 392. Production is limited to 250 units, and they will be available exclusively to veterans and active military personnel, who need to apply and tell their story.
The limited series and special target audience emphasize the uniqueness of this model. This approach not only honors veterans but also demonstrates how automakers can adapt products to the specific needs of communities. From a technical point of view, the integration of a powerful engine with off-road improvements makes the Commando an example of a specialized vehicle that combines high performance with practicality.
