JLR Does Not Disclose the Cause of the Latest Production Halt

Production Halt at JLR’s Solihull Plant

Jaguar Land Rover has once again stopped production lines at its plant in Solihull, UK. This time, the reason was a problem with the supply of components from one of the suppliers. The halt affected the production of full-size Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models.

Details and Duration of the Downtime

Specific details regarding which exact part caused the crisis are not disclosed. However, the problem is serious enough that production had to be suspended for approximately two weeks. This period partially coincides with the plant’s planned Easter shutdown. Work is expected to resume on April 8.

Due to problems with the supply of parts from a supplier, we are temporarily suspending production on certain vehicle assembly lines at our Solihull manufacturing site. We are working closely with this supplier to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and minimize any impact on our customers or our operations.

Previous Problems and General Context

This is not the first serious halt for the manufacturer recently. In the autumn of 2025, production was paralyzed for more than a month due to a cyberattack. The new supply problem comes at an extremely unfortunate time for the company.

A Difficult 2025 for JLR

2025 was a very difficult year for Jaguar Land Rover. Total sales fell by 19% compared to the previous year, amounting to 324,013 vehicles. The largest decline was observed in the third quarter — sales fell by 43%, largely due to the aftermath of the cyberattack.

The sales decline occurred in all key markets:

The only relative ray of optimism can be considered the situation in the domestic UK market, where sales fell by only 0.9%.

Current events highlight the vulnerability of modern globalized supply chains, where a problem with one supplier can halt the operation of a large plant. For Jaguar Land Rover, which has not yet recovered from previous blows, the new production halt creates additional pressure on operational efficiency and financial results. Successfully and quickly resolving the supply problem will be critically important for stabilizing the situation and preventing further sales decline in the new quarter.
