AI Technology for Jaguar Land Rover Vehicle Inspections
Jaguar Land Rover is deploying artificial intelligence scanners at three major US ports. The UVeye system detects scratches, dents, and damage as small as 20 millimeters. This technology is already used by other major companies like Amazon and General Motors.
AI-based scanners used by rental companies, such as Hertz, often create problems for consumers in the USA. However, for buyers of new Jaguar Land Rover models, this technology could become a useful protective tool.
Hertz’s AI Found A Dent You Can’t Even See And Charged Hundreds To Fix It
Thanks to a new partnership with UVeye, the same company behind Hertz’s scanning machines, Jaguar Land Rover vehicles arriving at major US seaports will be inspected for defects and damage before being shipped to dealerships.
Jaguar Land Rover is the first brand to use this technology on a large scale in the USA. Automated inspection stations are being installed at the ports of Brunswick (Georgia), Baltimore (Maryland), and Port Hueneme (California).
Fast and Reliable Inspections
Vehicles slowly drive through the stations, and in just a few seconds, the system can detect damage as small as 20 mm (0.7 inches), including minor dents, scratches, and other defects that may have occurred during production or transportation.
Any detected problems are instantly sent to the operators’ tablets. This ensures a faster vehicle flow and reduces the number of errors that can occur during manual inspection.
Together, UVeye and JLR are setting a new standard for automotive logistics, using artificial intelligence to enhance quality from the moment a vehicle is imported into the country, stated Amir Hever, CEO and Co-Founder of UVeye.
By deploying our technology in ports, JLR is creating a new standard of transparency, traceability, and trust throughout the supply chain. This is not just about efficient port handling, but also about creating smarter, faster, and more consistent automotive logistics that benefits everyone: from manufacturers and dealers to drivers.
Lawmakers Demand Answers From Hertz On AI Rental Damages System
UVeye inspection stations are equipped with chassis scanners, tire analyzers, and 360-degree external damage detection systems.
This technology is not limited to JLR. UVeye inspection stations are also used by brands like Amazon and General Motors, as well as several car rental companies, indicating the rapid spread of AI inspections in the industry.
The implementation of such technologies can significantly improve customer service quality by providing a more objective and accurate assessment of vehicle condition. However, it is important to consider that automated systems require constant improvement to avoid errors that could affect consumer trust. The integration of AI into logistics processes opens up new opportunities for optimization, but also requires attention to detail and transparency in the relationships between manufacturers, dealers, and end buyers.
