American tuning atelier Hennessey has unveiled a special version of the Ford F-250 pickup, dedicated to the 250th anniversary of US independence. This model is named the VelociRaptor 1200 F-250.
Key Features of the New Model
Power and Character
This extreme variant, based on the standard F-250 Lariat, not only looks impressive but also matches that image with its performance. Production is limited to 250 units. The vehicle retains the flagship 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine, which in stock configuration develops 500 horsepower and 1200 lb-ft of torque. It is precisely this torque figure that the “1200” in the model name refers to.
It’s a bit odd that the Texas company didn’t squeeze more power out of the engine, but let’s be honest, it already has more than enough.
Off-Road Preparation
To ensure the VelociRaptor 1200 F-250 lives up to its name off-road, Hennessey engineers increased the ground clearance by five inches using a BDS lift kit. This kit includes adjustable Fox 2.5 shocks with remote reservoirs. The model also received new 18-inch wheels with 37-inch off-road tires.
Exterior and Carbon Fiber
The standard F-250 bumpers were replaced with new steel ones. The company also added a series of carbon fiber components. Obviously, on such a pickup, there’s no point in fighting for weight reduction, so the carbon parts are purely for aesthetics. These include vents on the new hood, widened fenders, mirror caps, and a panel on the lower part of the tailgate.
Among other external updates are improved LED fog lights, a massive 50-inch LED light bar, new graphic decals, and badges. Power-retractable running boards with integrated lighting are also standard.
Updated Interior
The interior features seats upholstered in black leather and Alcantara with red contrasting accents. WeatherTech all-weather floor mats are standard, as is a numbered plaque for each unit featuring a full-color image of the American flag.
The Price of the Matter
Ford F-250 owners wishing to get the full VelociRaptor 1200 upgrade package will need to budget $54,500. This sum nearly doubles the cost of the vehicle, as the standard F-250 Lariat starts at $63,035. Thus, the total price will be $117,535 excluding delivery and taxes.
The upgrades can be ordered through authorized Ford dealerships and are backed by a limited Hennessey warranty of three years or 36,000 miles. This is certainly not a car for everyone, but for those who can afford it, it will definitely leave an impression.
Projects like the VelociRaptor 1200 clearly demonstrate a market niche where power, size, and exclusivity are often valued above practicality or economy. They are a kind of cultural phenomenon, especially in the USA, where pickups have long since transformed from work tools into means of self-expression. The limited production run and patriotic symbolism make this model not just a vehicle, but a collectible item reflecting a certain period and mood. In a world moving towards electromobility, such powerful diesel projects may become the last of their kind, which only adds to their value in the eyes of enthusiasts.
