The coronavirus epidemic will not allow a return to the usual way of life for a long time. And although many countries have already begun to ease quarantine measures, a number of difficulties remain.
One of them is long-distance travel on public transport. In an airplane, bus, or train, passengers sit close to each other and the risk of infection is very high. Nevertheless, several solutions to the problem have already been proposed.
As reported by Jalopnik, the Italian company Aviointeriors has proposed options for retrofitting aircraft cabins, which with some modifications could be suitable for other types of transport. They allow increasing the distance between passengers.
The first option is called Janus – in honor of the two-faced Roman god. The idea is that one of the three seats is turned in the opposite direction. In addition, the seat backs have additional protective screens on the sides.
The second project, Glassafe, involves equipping each seat with a kind of protective glass cocoon. It is preferable because Janus presents complications during the evacuation of passengers from the aircraft. However, Aviointeriors is ready to produce both Janus and Glassafe.
