The number of cars being scrapped in Ukraine is growing. Despite the common belief that our people will never “write off” their car until it rots in the yard, in reality, Ukrainians are increasingly disposing of their vehicles.

So, from January to November 2021, more than 15,000 cars were deregistered for scrapping in Ukraine, which is 40% more than in 2020. As TopGir writes, citing data from the Automotive Market Research Institute, the average age of a “scrapped car” is almost 25 years. 64% are passenger cars.

The overwhelming majority of cars that Ukrainians scrap are Soviet, Ukrainian, and Russian vehicles. Foreign cars, if encountered, are extremely rare. Actually, what surprised us personally is that there is such a phenomenon as scrapping a car in Ukraine. We mean the service itself, for which there is not only demand but even growing demand! By the way, more than half of those who scrap cars are private individuals (54%).

By the way, to write off a car, it must first be deregistered. This entire procedure can be carried out for free at any Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
