The fleet of central government bodies has ceased to be a secret. Journalists from the project “Schemes” conducted a detailed investigation on this topic. They talked not only about the cars of the Verkhovna Rada, Cabinet of Ministers and Office of the President, but also paid attention to law enforcement agencies.
National Police of Ukraine
As of May 1, 2020, the National Police has 19,439 vehicles. Naturally, these are very different cars – from Lanos to Mitsubishi Outlander hybrids.
The costs of maintaining this fleet have not been specified, as centralized accounting is not conducted.
NABU
The fleet of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau consists of 120 cars from 2015-2018, with the most being Ford (43), Renault (35), and Skoda (34). On average, 7 million hryvnias are spent on them annually.
Office of the Prosecutor General
The balance sheet of the Office of the Prosecutor General holds 78 vehicles, and they report that a year ago there were more cars. Among them are both Lexus and Mercedes-Benz, as well as Bogdan.
In 2019, maintaining the fleet cost 15.1 million hryvnias.
The SBU refused to provide information to journalists, citing that many vehicles are used for operative-search and counterintelligence activities. Accordingly, this information is restricted. The State Bureau of Investigations also did not disclose its fleet.
