The Kamaz-Master team has put up for sale three trucks that participated in the Dakar rally. This is an attempt to make some money, as sanctions against Russia have left the racers without funding.
After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, three main sponsors withdrew their support from Kamaz-Master – Red Bull, Goodyear, and Varta. Kamaz itself is also not doing particularly well financially. The team’s director, Vladimir Chagin, announced that they had to switch to an economy mode and look for new sources of funding.
Two trucks are relatively inexpensive: the 750-horsepower KamAZ-4911 from 2004 costs 132 thousand dollars, and the 850-horsepower KamAZ-4326-9 from 2007 costs $168 thousand. They are all-wheel drive, and their top speed is 160-165 km/h.
But the KamAZ-43509 is sold for as much as $967 thousand. This is because this car won the Dakar rally this year. It is, by the way, more powerful (1050 hp) and can reach 180 km/h and accelerate to one hundred in 6 seconds.
There is naturally little in common with serial Kamaz trucks. Although, we still don’t quite understand who is ready to buy a Kamaz for a million dollars.
