The condition of the car corresponds to a new car from the early 1980s and demonstrates the level of quality characteristic of German models of that period. The body, interior, and technical components have been preserved without traces of active use.

Under the hood of this W123 is installed a naturally aspirated five-cylinder diesel engine, the Mercedes OM617, with a displacement of 3.0 liters. The engine’s power is 88 hp. The main feature of the unit is considered to be its service life, which, according to manufacturer data and operational practice, can exceed 1 million kilometers without a major overhaul.

It was the diesel versions of the W123 that were widely used in the commercial segment, particularly as taxis, thanks to their simple design and durability.

The car was purchased in 1984, when Mercedes-Benz had already announced the model’s successor – the W124. Some customers feared that the new generation would be less reliable, so they tried to purchase W123s from the last batches.

The owner of this car was a German taxi driver who worked in a similar diesel W123 and decided to buy another new car in advance “for reserve.” However, the replacement was never needed, and the car stood in a garage for about 40 years without regular use.

According to the published information, the unique Mercedes-Benz W123 was sold for 38 thousand euros.
