Quarantine Boosted Car Sales in Ukraine

The announcement of quarantine due to the coronavirus significantly affected the statistics of new car sales. But this is just the tip of the iceberg, as we must not forget that the pandemic also impacted the currency exchange rates, notably the Ukrainian hryvnia plummeted.

Coronavirus or new exchange rates, but the fact remains – According to AUTO-Consulting, the last quarantine week (March 16-21) brought many operators a 74% increase in new car sales compared to the pre-quarantine week. On this wave, some operators even recorded sales growth of 30-90-121%!

However, by the end of the week, the growth stopped.

There are several reasons for this: the closure of dealerships and the transition to selling (or rather, consulting) online.

The most growth was noted in the budget segment. Last week’s sales for a number of such brands have almost doubled. The leader in sales growth was Renault (+121%).
