New Kia Seltos: What is Known About the Updated Model
Kia Seltos holds an important place in the brand’s lineup – just last year, about 60 thousand units were sold in the USA. However, the model is already outdated, as the current generation was introduced back in 2019.
The company is already actively testing the updated crossover in Europe. Although the car is still hidden under camouflage, key design changes can already be discerned.
Exterior and Technical Updates
The most noticeable change is the new front end, which resembles the design of models like the Sportage and Sorento. The car received a wide radiator grille, illuminated by two-tier LED headlights. Below is a massive bumper with a central sensor.
On the sides, a stylized hood and pronounced fenders are visible. The roof remains quite flat, and the windows retain a recognizable design. The rear is still hidden under camouflage, but it is already noticeable that the taillights have become taller, resembling those installed on the EV5.
Kia has not yet disclosed details, but the model is expected to debut next year with a hybrid powertrain.
It will likely be the same hybrid that Hyundai Motor Group reported on in April. The company stated that the new powertrain would improve fuel efficiency by over 4%. An e-AWD system with an electric motor on the rear axle for improved traction and dynamics is also expected.
Interestingly, the Seltos will for the first time become available for the European market, highlighting the growing popularity of crossovers worldwide.
Despite the exact release dates still being unknown, the new Seltos is already generating excitement among brand fans. Given the trend towards more environmentally friendly solutions, the hybrid version could be key to the model’s success in the European market. Furthermore, the updated design and technologies could strengthen Kia’s position in the compact crossover segment.
