In the Mexican state of Jalisco, the police have received three patrol Tesla Cybertrucks to ensure security during the 2026 World Cup. These vehicles, equipped with special gear, will be used in tourist zones. They are the first police Cybertrucks in Mexico. One of them has already hit the city streets, accompanied by regular patrol cars.
Mayor Pablo Lemus Navarro emphasizes the importance of security during the tournament, but the purchase of expensive electric vehicles has caused dissatisfaction among local residents. The Cybertrucks feature matte black coating, special light signals, and likely a modified interior for police needs. These vehicles are just part of a large-scale fleet upgrade in the region.
The Jalisco government has introduced new patrol Tesla Cybertrucks, which feature armor, artificial intelligence, 360° cameras, and database connectivity. They will be used during a special security operation ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Security Plans and Other Countries
Governor Navarro plans to significantly improve security in the region before the championship. In addition to Teslas, the fleet will include 678 patrol vehicles, including specialized equipment. Mexico is not the only one using Cybertrucks for police—Las Vegas previously announced receiving 10 such vehicles.
The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19 in 16 cities across the USA, Mexico, and Canada. While the use of high-tech Cybertrucks looks impressive, questions arise about the practicality of such expenses for a temporary event. Meanwhile, the state is installing 1,500 new surveillance cameras to enhance security.
