Considering the population of the Middle Kingdom, we think you might also be interested to know which cars are considered the best according to the Chinese. Especially since not long ago, their cars were laughed at (as were the buyers), but now the one who laughs last laughs best. And most likely, that will be those very Chinese car giants…

As for the Best Car of the Year contest in China, this award is called the Xuanyuan Award and is held annually. This year, the list of finalists included 10 models, among which there are even non-Chinese cars – for instance, Citroen, Hyundai, and Tesla.
However, the best of the best, as shown by the voting, turned out to be not one car but two – the electric crossover HiPhi X and GAC Trumpchi Empow.
HiPhi
The Chinese electric car Hippie or hi fi (or maybe hi fi?) HiPhi is one of the most expensive serial cars in the Middle Kingdom. At home, it costs 570-800 thousand yuan, which is 90-125 thousand dollars!

It was noted for its unusual design, abundance of high-tech features, and decent dynamic characteristics. By the way, the electric crossover has a dual-motor electric setup with 598 horsepower, which allows it to reach its first hundred in 3.6 seconds. On a single charge of its 96-kilowatt-hour battery, the electric car can travel 644 kilometers.

GAC Trumpchi Empow
This car ended up among the leaders for its functionality and affordability, while the Chinese note a high level of quality. It is sold in China with a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine that develops 177 horsepower and is combined with a “robot” with two wet clutches.

An attractive cost (starting from $15 thousand) and a good combination of price and quality make this sedan one of the most accessible and high-quality, while it is also well-equipped (like a “business-class” European).
