In China, a new generation of the luxurious sedan Hongqi L5 is being prepared. Its first images have already appeared on the internet. Like its predecessor, it will be the most expensive Chinese car – its price will exceed $900 thousand.
Hongqi is the Chinese Rolls-Royce. The company has been building limousines for the Chinese party and government elite for decades, but they’ve become available for sale only relatively recently.
The Hongqi L5 is produced in small series and assembled by hand to order.
The new Hongqi L5 retains its familiar face with round LED headlights and a wide chrome grille. However, its roofline has now become arched, and the rear doors open against the motion, like in the Rolls-Royce Phantom.
The interior is trimmed with expensive leather and wood. The Hongqi L5 features a virtual dashboard and a large touchscreen.
Under the hood, it still houses a 6.0-liter V12 engine with 408 horsepower. The Chinese sedan is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
