Electric ambition in Chinese style: The IM LS9 is the new flagship crossover from the IM brand, combining premium comfort, innovative technology, and a range of over 1500 km. Sales in China will start on November 12, with prices ranging from 336,900 to 366,900 yuan (approximately $46,800–$51,000).
The IM LS9 is the largest and most expensive vehicle from the brand, created by the SAIC conglomerate. The model’s length reaches 5.28 m, with a wheelbase of 3160 mm, making it a true competitor to the BMW X7 or Mercedes GLS. The design is elegantly restrained: a high hood, a curved window line, and the headlights and taillights are connected by LED strips.
The interior features two large displays — a 27.1-inch one for the driver and a 15.6-inch one for the passenger. A ceiling-mounted TV is provided for the rear rows, and the layout is for six seats. Each seat has electric adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage. Among the bonuses are a refrigerator, a powerful Bang & Olufsen audio system, and a semi-autonomous driving system.
The portable shower in the trunk deserves special attention. Yes, a real shower — with a 10-liter tank and a 1.2 kW boiler that heats water to 45°C in 10 minutes. Furthermore, the seats can be folded down to form a full-fledged sleeping area. It’s even scary to imagine how the rashist ‘tourists,’ who have never seen a toilet, would behave here — a crossover with a hot shower right in the trunk.
Under the hood is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with two electric motors, producing 530 hp and 670 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 4 seconds, while the average fuel consumption is 2.8 l/100 km. A large 66 kWh battery allows for 402 km on electric power alone, and the total range with the gasoline engine is 1508 km.
The IM LS9 is essentially a mobile villa on wheels, combining business-class comfort, environmental friendliness, and readiness for adventure. It is possible that it will later be introduced in Europe under the MG brand.
