GMC Unveils Special Edition Hummer EV Icon | 25 Edition
GMC has released a new version of its electric off-roader — the 2027 Hummer EV Icon | 25 Edition. This special edition celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Hummer H2 model. The vehicle features a yellow and black color scheme that symbolizes the brand’s heritage.
Design and Features
General Motors is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Hummer H2 by introducing the Hummer EV Icon | 25. This special edition, according to the manufacturer, is “born from the heritage of bold design, cultural impact, and unmistakable presence.”
This is overly ambitious praise for an electric vehicle lineup that sells slowly and a brand that has been dead for a decade, but the model boasts a bright yellow Icon color inspired by a shade offered on the H2.
The yellow color contrasts with numerous black accents, including wheels, trim, mirrors, and roof. The model also features black tow hooks and skid plates.
Interior and Exclusivity
Changes inside the cabin are also minimal but include a new Jet Black interior with unique infotainment system graphics. These are complemented by a serial badge on the instrument panel indicating that the vehicle is one of 250. Buyers will also receive an “exclusive souvenir,” but GMC declined to disclose what it is.
Trims and Pricing
The Icon | 25 package will be offered on the 2X and 3X versions of the pickup and SUV. Pricing information is not yet available, but 2026 models start at $97,825 excluding a $2,695 delivery fee.
Updates for the 2027 Model Year
In addition to the special edition, GMC announced several model year updates, including a built-in North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. It provides easy access to Tesla Supercharger stations, and the company noted that this does not affect the vehicle-to-home bidirectional charging capability.
Other changes are limited, but buyers will find four new body colors: Azurite Blue, Dark Ember, Dark Ridge, and Deep Void Matte. Two new 22-inch wheel designs have also been introduced.
Technical Specifications
Production of the 2027 GMC Hummer EV will begin later this year, and the model will feature familiar powertrains. This means the vehicle can produce up to 1,160 hp (865 kW / 1,176 PS) and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds.
This news highlights how GMC is trying to revive interest in its electric off-roader through nostalgia and limited editions. While the Hummer EV has not become a mass-market hit, the company continues to invest in its development, adding new technologies such as the NACS port, making it more convenient for modern EV owners. The Icon | 25 special edition will likely appeal to collectors, but its high price and limited production run are unlikely to significantly impact overall sales of the lineup.
