Lamborghini Temerario Polizia: a supercar in the service of the state
Police cars do not necessarily have to be boring. Lamborghini is proving this once again by presenting the new Temerario Polizia. This high-performance vehicle has been created specifically for the Italian state police and will be used in situations where every second can be decisive.
This is primarily about transporting organs and other critically important medical cargo in emergencies. Cooperation between Lamborghini and the Italian police began back in 2004 with the Gallardo. Since then, thanks to these joint efforts, more than two hundred organs have been successfully delivered for transplantation. This has helped save countless lives, and now this tradition continues with a new supercar.
Exterior and interior of the special vehicle
Lamborghini has so far revealed remarkably little about the car itself. However, the published images show a blue-and-white livery with “Polizia” lettering on the doors. An LED light bar is installed on the roof, and the body is decorated with tricolor graphics inspired by the Italian flag.
A short video released by the Italian police shows a near-production interior with black and brown leather. However, do not be surprised if, before it enters service, the car receives additional equipment, including communication tools and other police systems.
Technical underpinnings: a hybrid with incredible power
Beneath the body of the new model lies a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, three electric motors, an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a 3.8 kWh battery.
The system’s total output reaches 920 CV (907 hp) or 677 kW. Torque is 730 Nm. Thanks to these characteristics, the supercar can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, and its top speed reaches 343 km/h. For a police car delivering organs or rushing to an emergency, this is a real advantage.
More than 20 years of Lamborghini cooperation with the police
The Italian state police has already had six Lamborghini vehicles in service. Among them were the Gallardo LP 560-4, Huracán, and Urus Performante. This is not the first time a supercar has been used to transport donor organs. Previously, police on a Lamborghini Huracán delivered a kidney from Rome to Padua while traveling at about 145 mph.
In addition to emergency medical missions, police Lamborghinis have also taken part in more than 1,500 educational events dedicated to road safety. In this way, the automaker not only helps save lives in critical situations but also contributes to preventing accidents and fostering a culture of responsible driving among Italians.
Why speed really saves lives here
Having such power in a police car may seem excessive. But in organ transport missions, the speed margin is not a luxury but a working tool. Traffic jams, traffic lights, the need to overtake safely on highways—all of this affects the time that determines whether donor organs remain suitable for transplantation.
The new Temerario Polizia can quickly travel from one part of the country to another, effectively acting as medical transport on wheels. Its appearance also reminds us that the fastest cars must be used responsibly. And the fact that Lamborghini has continued this program for more than two decades proves its real effectiveness and importance for the Italian health care system.
