When the body is raised, but the mind is lowered

Truck collides with bridge in Florida

In Florida, a truck with a trailer collided with a highway bridge, resulting in the vehicle’s body being torn off. According to police, the driver and passenger remained unharmed. After the accident, the road section was closed to remove the damaged body.

“If I were driving the truck, I probably would have noticed that the body was raised before heading onto the road,” an eyewitness to the event quipped.

The incident occurred early in the morning when the 54-year-old driver was passing under the bridge. The truck’s speed has not been determined, but the speed limit on this section is 55 mph. The impact was so strong that the body completely separated from the frame. Restoring the vehicle, if even possible, will be costly.

Consequences of the accident

Similar incidents occur not only in the U.S. but worldwide. For example, in North Carolina, there is a notorious bridge called “11foot8+8,” which is constantly the site of accidents due to insufficient height. Even after it was raised by 8 inches, incidents continue.

In this case, fortunately, there were no fatalities or additional participants in the crash. However, had the accident occurred during rush hour, the consequences could have been much more severe. Local media report that traffic on the section was restored only after the roadway was completely cleared.
