When a New Porsche Concept Gets Dirty, It Won’t Need a Car Wash, But a Deck Crew

Joint Project by Porsche and Frauscher

German automaker Porsche and Austrian shipbuilder Frauscher presented a new joint project at a German boat show. It includes the Frauscher 790 Spectre electric sports boat and a unique concept car, the Porsche Macan Turbo Concept Lago, created in its honor. This collaboration continues their partnership after the creation of a high-speed electric boat.

Features of the Macan Turbo Concept Lago Concept Car

The conceptual Porsche Macan Turbo Concept Lago is a unique car inspired by a maritime theme. It is not an amphibious vehicle but integrates nautical design and materials. For its creation, the services of the Exclusive Manufaktur personalization department and the Sonderwunsch program were used.

The car’s exterior is painted in Darkteal Metallic from the Paint to Sample program, and the graphics on the body emphasize the connection with the boat. Even the keys have a corresponding hue.

Nautical Interior Design

The concept’s interior is fully executed in a maritime style. Natural wood inspired by a yacht deck is used on the floor in the luggage compartments and in the cabin. The floor mats are also made of wood, creating a feeling as if you are on a boat.

Real wood, inspired by boat decks, lines the front and rear luggage compartments, and the floor mats look ready for bare feet.

On the instrument panel, the usual stopwatch is replaced by a compass, and the seat upholstery is made of marine fabric and Crayon leather with green contrast stitching.

The Frauscher 790 Spectre Electric Boat

Unlike the single concept car, the Frauscher 790 Spectre boat will go on sale. This is a 7.97-meter-long sports boat built on the Porsche Macan electric vehicle platform. It uses the same 100 kWh battery pack and dual electric motor setup.

Engineers built the 7,970 mm (313.8-inch) long sports boat around the same 100 kWh battery pack and dual electric motor setup used in the Macan Turbo.

The boat’s powertrain output is 536 hp, while the Macan Turbo Electric has 630 hp. The boat’s hull is new and lighter, and the cockpit borrowed styling solutions from Porsche, including the steering wheel and seat design elements. Buyers can personalize the boat with paint and materials to match their car.

Price and Availability

Orders for the Frauscher 790 Spectre are already open, but the exact price has not been announced. Considering the previous model, the 850 Fantom Air, cost around $600,000, the new boat will likely be available only to very affluent fans of the Porsche and Frauscher brands. In comparison, the Macan Turbo Electric with a starting price of $112,700 appears significantly more accessible.

This project demonstrates how the automotive and marine industries can combine technology and design to create exclusive products. Using the same electric platform for a car and a boat is an interesting step towards unifying high-tech solutions across different vehicles. The personalization offered by both brands highlights the trend towards creating unique items that reflect the owner’s personality, whether on land or on water.
