Škoda Fabia Prototypes at the Nürburgring
Photographers captured two Škoda Fabia prototypes undergoing testing on the Nürburgring track. One of them had more aggressive aerodynamic elements, while the other was equipped with red brake calipers, which is not typical for the current model version. Both cars were using 18-inch alloy wheels, which are already available for the Monte Carlo trim.
Possible Facelift and Sports Version
The fourth generation of the Škoda Fabia debuted in 2021, so it is expected that the model will soon receive a mid-life cycle update. This may include changes to the bumpers, lighting technology, and overall design. There is hope that a sports version will appear alongside the facelift, possibly featuring a more powerful engine and an improved chassis.
Current Technical Specifications
The most powerful version of the current Fabia is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 150 horsepower. The Monte Carlo trim offers a sporty appearance thanks to black accents, special wheels, and an updated interior. There is also a limited edition Fabia Rally2 for the Spanish market with a 190 horsepower engine, lowered suspension, and an exclusive paint job.
Prospects for the Future Model
Škoda has never installed the 2.0-liter engine used in the Volkswagen Polo GTI in the Fabia. However, if the brand plans to create a true RS version, it will need not only increased power but also sharper handling and a bold design. Considering market trends, the company may focus on creating a ‘warm’ hatchback version, leaving full-fledged RS models for future electric vehicles.
Škoda traditionally offers well-balanced cars with good equipment at an affordable price, and if the new Fabia version receives additional power options, it could significantly increase its competitiveness in the segment. Demand for small sports cars is decreasing, but thanks to the uniqueness of models like the Fabia, they can still find their fans.
