New Horse Development: A Compact Power Unit for Electric Vehicles
Horse has introduced an ultra-compact extended-range power unit that can convert electric vehicles into hybrid vehicles. This system includes:
The overall dimensions of the unit are approximately equivalent to a large briefcase, making it an ideal solution for integration into existing electric vehicles.
Technical Specifications and Installation Possibilities
The Horse C15 unit, introduced at the Munich Motor Show, measures 500 mm in length, 550 mm in width, and 275 mm in height in the non-turbocharged version. Despite its compactness, it includes a full-fledged engine and all necessary components for operation.
The system can be installed both horizontally and vertically, allowing it to be placed even in the front trunk (frunk) of electric vehicles. This opens up new possibilities for manufacturers who want to offer customers vehicles with an extended range without significant changes to the design.

Environmental Friendliness and Power
The engine is developed in accordance with Euro 7 standards and can run on various types of fuel, including gasoline, ethanol, methanol, and synthetic fuels. The base version delivers up to 94 hp, suitable for B- and C-segment cars, while the turbocharged version offers up to 161 hp for larger models.
Matthias Giannini, CEO of Horse Powertrain, noted: “Extended-range electric vehicles are the fastest-growing segment in many global markets. Our solution offers manufacturers a simple and cost-effective way to adapt their platforms to this technology.”

This innovation could become a key solution for automakers facing limitations in charging infrastructure and consumer range anxiety. The technology allows for retaining the benefits of electric propulsion while offering additional security through traditional fuel. In the future, such systems could significantly accelerate the transition to cleaner vehicles by combining the advantages of both types of powertrains.
